At VSNARY we are all about supporting and encouraging young talent to follow their vision. That’s why we were so pleased to see Dave win the Ivor Novello Award for “Question Time” last week for being the best contemporary song of the year.
Rapper and songwriter Dave has used his growing platform to shed light on UK’s political climate and matters including the struggling NHS, Grenfell Tower and Brexit. Since the release of Question Time, the Youtube video has had over 3million views and has gained recognition all over the nation.
It’s inspiring to see Dave use his platform to help highlight issues that often do not get the necessary recognition to overcome these issues. At just 19 years old, Dave has already won a MOBO Award for the “Best Newcomer Act” in 2017, featured on OVO Sound with his single “Wanna Know” which was then remixed and released as a single with Drake, released the single “Samantha” featuring J Hus and so much more…
We can’t wait to hear Dave’s album due to release later this year - we are confident that Dave has many more successful years ahead of him. Knowing that this all started when Dave started writing his own lyrics at the age of 11 and soon after, started playing the piano shows that anything is possible with some passion, determination and a most importantly, a vision.
